The only certainty in life is uncertainty. Everything changes. All the time. There is no constant.
This used to be how we viewed the world, but not any more. Basketball has shattered our understanding of nature. The Warriors will never lose, under any circumstances. Your team will never beat them, and you need to learn to be okay with that. Last night, the Atlanta Hawks threw themselves at a depleted Warriors squad. They gave the team hell, putting up a great defensive effort and Bazemore bombs. Through force of will, they took the game to overtime, and then Draymond happened.
What the hell are you supposed to do against that?
The Warriors have the MVP in Steph. They have a legendary shooter in Klay. They have an excellent defender in Iggy. They have everyone’s matchup problem in Draymond. They have one of the league’s best coaches in Kerr. Then, they have a stable of roll players (Livingston, Barnes, Barbosa, Speights) who are each capable of delivering daggers. This team is greater than the sum of its parts. Each player is a perfect fit for what the team needs and Kerr knows how to get the best out of them.
There is no hope. Your team is having a nice season. They will probably make the playoffs and are filled with fine players who are having good to decent seasons. Your coach is pretty good too. But none of that matters. None of that matters because the Warriors are an unstoppable machine and you are merely dirt that shall be trampled underfoot. The Warriors are like gravity, they care nothing for your hopes and dreams. They are an unstoppable force and there is nothing you can do against them. You can only hold on and hope to maybe send it to overtime where your hopes and dreams will be crushed by Draymond as he heaves a miracle 3.
Take solace in the fact that this is not real life. The Warriors are an anomaly, incomparable with anything in the natural world. They are also beautiful to behold. All you can do is sit and watch as the beautiful machine rolls over the top of you.
